Introducing EPIC KITES 3G - (3rd Generation)

Our 2012 gear line is exciting, inventive and has an updated approach. We are looking at kite development a little differently, and the results are truly exciting. Epic is turning 3! And to celebrate, we’re coming out with a line of third generation kites (3G). We see no value to the rider in using a model number or year on kites. We make the best gear, and sometimes we’re so excited we bring it out as soon as possible without regard to what other companies are doing. Like the Renegade 13 meter limited edition for example. We couldn’t keep it all to ourselves, so it was released early. On the other hand, sometimes our ideas take a little more time to refine, like the new Judge C kite which is just now being introduced mid-season. All of our kites have new concepts applied and a very fresh, unique look. As a matter of fact, the graphics on our kites are pretty awesome. Check out few of the pictures bellow!

3G “RENEGADE”
The 3G Renegades have new sizes, so now there is one for every rider need. We’ll be producing them in 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 sizes as well as the popular light wind Infinity. The Renegade “INFINITY” proved to be our best seller, and will be back as a V2 to complete the Renegade line. The Infinity set the benchmark for powered kiting in light wind conditions. The 3G Renegades have a sleek new look, a more powerful profile, is even more stable and eats gusts like fatties at a free buffet. If you want a kite that is more reliable and predictable than ever, the Renegade is the tool for you. Packed with power and precision this kite delivers in waves, freeride and any other condition you can throw at it. Bottom line — this kite is best in class!

3G “SCREAMER”
You wanna talk sick graphics package? Check out the 3G Screamer. We’ve been keeping our designers busy, but the payoff is the best looking kite in the sky. The 3G Screamer is the evolution of the 2011 LTD kite. We’ve used creative strut design and tricked it out to be even more powerful and a little less fussy. The 3G Screamers are like a day at the rodeo… once those gates open – BOOM – it’s a fun, wild and exhilarating ride that you go home and brag to your friends about. We’re talking balls to the wall hang time, to the moon height and enough stoke to last a lifetime. If you want to see what we’re thinking for our 4G line, check out the 3G Screamer LTD 10 meter and take in some of the new features.

3G “JUDGE”
And as if that’s not enough, we eagerly welcome our new C kite, the Judge to the Epic family of kites. The Judge is a true C kite with the benefits of modern relaunch and safety. Wakestyle riders will love the smooth, constant pull, light bar pressure and explosive pop. Wave riders looking for a new school feel will enjoy responsive turning speed, insanely easy unhooked riding and drift.

3G “REEF surfboards”
Two new surf shapes round out our board line for this fall – the REEF (5′ 7″ ATV and 5′ 11″). Our kitesurfboards are light and built tough. The REEF 5′ 7″ is a board suited for fun in all conditions. We call it the All Terrain Vehicle of surfboards for a reason. Now instead of riding the couch in less than ideal conditions, you can be out riding! With lighter winds and mushy waves, this board is right at home. The Reef  5′ 11″ is a longer, gunnier ride and will have you slaying those monster waves in no time. Both boards are speedy and responsive enabling rider confidence and really adding to the fun factor. These amazing boards look to be an essential part of every surf riders quiver. We made 50 of them as our first production and have pre-sold more then 1/2 of them already.

La construction et la solidité sont de très haut niveau. Ce kite s’adresse vraiment à tout niveau de pratiquants, du pro-rider à la personne qui sort de stage. C’est le kite PLAISIR PUR avec zéro prise de tête ! Synthèse entre de très bonnes performances et l’efficacité mêlé à la facilité en toutes circonstances.

Le comportement en l’air est bluffant. Surprenante de facilité, elle rentre dans les courbes naturellement et se place ou vous le voulez. La Griffin n’a vraiment pas à rougir à coté de ces concurrentes jusqu’à 2x plus cher que la marque Australienne. Agréable et légère en barre, l’Argonaut 2011 a un touché en barre parfait! ” …simplement rien à redire !”

L’argo 2011 a été dessinée pour une réactivité réglable à trois positions ceci jusqu’à une réaction ultra rapide pour les plus exigeants ce qui permettra à votre matos de suivre votre progression. La stabilité est très homogène et la relance facile permet toutes les fantaisies.

Pour les experts qui recherchent une pratique Freestyle + vagues, les virages rapides sur l’oreille et le depower est parfaitement adapté pour le surf autant que les tricks dèshookés. Les kiteloops s’engagent à très haute vitesse et tournent très court. Vraiment le top , les kites sont tous très beau et beaucoup d’améliorations seront présentes en 2011.

Voici la présentation des kites Epic 2011.

La Screamer 10LTD revient , les petits tailles de Screamer seront plus stable (un gros manque en 2010) et les grosses tailles 12-14 seront plus rapide et moins de pression en barre.

La Renegade, que j’ai rider. offrira moins de pression à la barre (moins je trouvais en 2010 , qu’elle en avait beaucoup trop) , La 11M va offrir plus de puissance.

Il y aura aussi des boards.

For 2011, Epic Kites is continuing the Screamer, Renegade, and Junior Pro lines. Each kite has had small refinements made to it and Epic claims that they were able to improve every kite in the Epic line.

Like in 2010, there will also be a 10m LTD Screamer, which is designed to be an ultra-performance and very powerful kite. The Epic bar is staying much the same, but features new colors and a new center hole to reduce wear.

For those who have children who want to start kiteboarding, the Junior Pro is a kite specially designed for kids. Epic founder Dimitri Maramenides filled us in on what we can expect from Epic for the 2011 model year.

Renegade

Why would a rider who loved the 2010 Epic kites want to upgrade to the 2011 versions?
The 2010 kites are still amazing kites, so if you just purchased a 2010 kite I would not recommend that you buy a 2011 kite yet, unless you want to upgrade the quiver and get a better and improved version.

Are any changes being made to the Epic Bar?
The bar will remain the same but we changed the colors on the bar and we made a new hole on the bar so now the line of the CL can move in and out easier. We also changed the thickness of the lines and made them thicker and stiffer so it is easier to unroll the lines.

What was the approach to making changes on the new kites?
We are able to succeed in this industry because we listen to customer’s needs and work with them. You will see not only that our kites are superior quality compared to other brands but the performance and the customer service is incredible. Don’t take my word for it, just give us a try and you will see.

Epic Screamer
What type of riders are the Screamer, Renegade, and Junior Pro 4 designed for?
The Renegade was designed for all around riders, from teaching to wave riding to power moves to jumping. In a few words it’s a kite that can do everything you desire. Personally I love the Renegade for the waves. Now on the other hand the Screamer was designed for riders looking for big jumps, big hang time, big kite loops, and a very fast kite.

The Junior Pro 4 was designed by Cameron Maramenides, the world’s youngest pro rider. The size will be 4m with 20 meter lines, but this is not a toy! It is a kite made for those of us who really want our kids to excel and not just put them on a smaller version of what an adult rides. This kite has the performance of the Renegade line but in a smaller size made for the young guns. The one pump, compact bridle, super easy relaunch, and incredible depower also make it a kite that is excellent to teach those just starting out. Watch out though, pretty soon junior will be out-jumping you!

[b]What was some of the rider input on the 2010 gear that you put into the 2011 Epic kites?[/b]
The response on the 2010 kites was amazing from riders across the world with varied riding styles and needs. Most of our customers told us not to change anything on the kites, but we knew we could improve on the performance and construction. With a few tweaks and small changes we made the 2011 kites even better than the 2010.

[b]What are the standout changes?[/b]
For the 2011 Screamer, we made the 12m and 14m sizes 12% faster and reduced the bar pressure by 8%. We then took the construction to a new level and reinforced key areas for added strength. The 7m and 9m Screamer have undergone small construction improvements and minor tweaks for enhanced unhooked performance.

The 2011 Renegade 9m meter was improved to make it 12% faster with 10% less bar pressure and we added reinforcements. The Renegade 6m was near perfect, but riders will enjoy additional reinforcements and minor tweaks on the bridle for the 2011 version. Our greatest challenge was updating the Renegade 11m. We wanted to make this kite more powerful with less bar pressure and faster than its predecessor.

To pull this off we went back to the drawing board and started from scratch, but we were able to make the 11m substantially more powerful and significantly faster with totally stability!

You are continuing the 10m LTD Screamer for 2011. How is this kite different than the standard Screamer?
The Limited Edition is an extremely powerful kite using the same design characteristics but with a slightly different profile making this 10m as powerful as any other 12m kite.

For 2011 we decided to tweak the plans of the 10 LTD to improve the direct feel. Now not only do you get the amazing hang time, but unhooking is even better than last year’s model with powerful grunt, amazing pop, and explosive jumps.
